Recap: Heavy Manners LA Zine Fair 2026

April 2026, I took part in the inaugural Heavy Manners LA Zine Fair. A two-day gathering of over 60 independent creatives, artists, and zine makers, and the first event of its kind in Los Angeles, CA. 

I presented four exclusive bodies of work: Syncopation, Reprised, Leaklist, and Heritage. Each project surfaces a different facet of my personality, experience, and curiosity — from a visual narrative built around the idea of a music leak, to a referential photobook exploring my life as a Japanese American. Every piece was written, designed, printed, and bound by hand, and offered for sale at the fair. 

More than anything, Heavy Manners was a weekend of conversation; with the like-minded and the simply curious. Numbers were traded, Instagram handles exchanged, new friendships started. A genuinely great time, and a reminder of what Los Angeles's creative community can be at its best.
