22 West Magazine

2021 – Editorial
As Art Director for 22 West, CSULB’s student-run publication, I directed the visual identity of a 30-page issue produced on a bi-weekly cycle. My role focused on synthesizing diverse student contributions—ranging from photography and illustration to long-form journalism—into a cohesive editorial system. By balancing experimental layouts with structured typography, I developed a visual language that allowed expressive headlines and bold imagery to coexist dynamically.

A standout moment in my tenure was the creative direction for "The Fear Issue." The cover and internal spreads explore fear as an abstract psychological stressor—something rarely tangible or visible, yet omnipresent. Through distorted photo illustrations and thoughtful use of negative space, the design translates the internal tension of anxiety into a physical, editorial experience.
